Management plan review
In accordance with the Countryside and Rights of Way Act 2000 the Government requires that a management plan is prepared for all AONBs and that these plans are reviewed at least once every five years. The management plan is a key document that sets out how the natural beauty of the AONB should be conserved and enhanced. It is important that the plan incorporates the views of residents as well as a wide range of public, private and voluntary bodies.
The current Blackdown Hills Plan (2004-2009) is therefore being reviewed. The management plan will be made of two elements, i) the strategy that provides the visions, objectives and policies and ii) the development plan that can be continually revised and rolled forward. We would welcome your comments on this draft revised strategy before Tuesday 30 September 2008 (see consultation documents below).
As part of the review process and in accordance with the Strategic Environmental Assessment regulations (2001/42EC) we are also preparing an environmental report on the strategy. This document identifies the likely impacts on the environment that mayarise from the implementation of the strategy. This document will follow shortly and we also welcome your comments on that.
