The Blackdown Hills AONB. has a new manager. Linda Bennett joins us from the Hawk and Owl Trust, where she was director.
Chairman of the AONB Partnership, Cllr Paul Diviani said:
"We are delighted that Linda is taking on this key role at the Blackdown Hills AONB. I'm sure that she will continue the excellent work of the team ensuring that landscape and livelihoods flourish alongside each other."
Linda, who has lived in Somerset for 20 years, said:
"I'm looking forward to the prospect of helping to conserve the fascinating landscape of the Blackdown Hills that I can see from my home near Wiveliscombe. And I'm keen to work closely with the local community to learn more about the area."
Linda has worked for most of her career in nature conservation and is no stranger to protected landscapes. She has been a member of the Dartmoor National Park Authority for the past nine years, and served on the Council of the Campaign for National Parks.
In her spare time, Linda volunteers in her local community shop and is learning to ring the bells in the church. She is married with one son.
Also starting at the Blackdown Hills AONB is project co-ordinator Nickie Moore. Nickie, who comes from Taunton, will be taking over from Carmel Wilkinson. Her role will be to work with local communities and to support projects which bring environmental, social and economic benefits to the area.
